Annual First Aid Refresher Training
Keep your first aid skills fresh, maintain confidence and stay up to date with current first aid practice through practical annual refresher training.
The HSE strongly recommends that qualified workplace first aiders undertake annual refresher training during the three-year certification period.
This practical half-day course is designed for existing First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work certificate holders who want to refresh essential skills between qualifications.
Course Description
First aid skills can fade surprisingly quickly when they are not regularly used.
Annual First Aid Refresher Training gives existing workplace first aiders the opportunity to revisit essential practical skills, ask questions and update their knowledge between full qualification or requalification courses.
The session focuses heavily on practical activity rather than lengthy theory, giving learners time to practise the skills they are most likely to need in a real workplace emergency.
The course is particularly useful for organisations that want their first aiders to remain confident and prepared throughout the three-year certification period.
Please note that annual refresher training does not extend or renew an existing First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
Need to renew your qualification? Take a look at our First Aid at Work Requalification or Emergency First Aid at Work courses.

How long is the Annual First Aid Refresher course?
The course is normally delivered as a half-day practical session. This gives learners enough time to revisit essential first aid skills without repeating the full content of their original qualification.

“Excellent Emergency First Aid at Work course.”
As someone who struggles with traditional learning methods, I felt the delivery was very inclusive and I felt very comfortable asking questions to support my understanding. Mary was engaging and knowledgeable. Overall, a thoroughly well spent day. Thank you. Kirsty Walkington
