First Aid at Work

Requalification

Renew your First Aid at Work qualification in just 2 days with a practical course designed to refresh your knowledge, update your skills and rebuild confidence in dealing with workplace first aid emergencies.

The First Aid at Work Requalification course is designed for existing First Aid at Work certificate holders who need to renew their qualification and continue acting as a workplace first aider.
Ideally, requalification should be completed before your current certificate expires. If yours has already expired, don’t panic — get in touch and we’ll help you work out the most appropriate route.

Course Description

The First Aid at Work Requalification course refreshes and reassesses the full range of knowledge and practical skills covered by the First Aid at Work qualification, but over an intensive 2-day programme.
Because learners have completed First Aid at Work training previously, the course moves at a faster pace than the initial 3-day qualification.

Has your certificate already expired?

You may still be able to complete the 2-day requalification course.

However, where a considerable period has passed since your certificate expired, the full 3-day First Aid at Work course may be more appropriate.

Not sure which one you need? Use our Requalification Checker or contact us and we’ll help.

There is plenty of practical training throughout, including CPR, AED use, casualty assessment, management of injuries and medical emergencies, and realistic first aid scenarios.
Learners should be prepared to demonstrate existing underpinning knowledge while updating their skills in line with current first aid guidance.

Candidates need a suitable level of English to understand the course content and complete the required assessments. We can often provide additional support where English is not a learner’s first language, and reasonable adjustments may be available where appropriate. Please contact us before the course if you would like to discuss any individual learning requirements.

Need the full qualification instead? Take a look at our 3-day First Aid at Work course.
Not ready to requalify yet? Keep your skills fresh with our Annual Refresher Training.

What are the different learning methods for this course?

Face to face learning (Our Fave!)

This course can be delivered entirely face-to-face over 2 days.
Requalification courses are intensive, so we make sure those two days include plenty of opportunities to refresh your practical skills, ask questions and rebuild confidence.
Expect CPR, AED practice, casualty assessment, first aid scenarios and hands-on management of a wide range of injuries and medical emergencies.

Blended Learning

Prefer a little more flexibility?

Blended learning combines online study with practical face-to-face training.

Part 1: Online Learning

Learners complete approximately 6 hours of eLearning before attending the practical training day.

The online section allows you to refresh the underpinning knowledge at your own pace and must be completed before attending the face-to-face element.

Part 2: Face-to-face Training

Learners then attend 1 full day of face-to-face practical training and assessment at your venue.

The classroom day concentrates heavily on practical skills, scenarios, demonstrations and assessment.

Blended learning availability may vary depending on the qualification route being delivered, so just let us know if this is your preferred option when requesting a quote.

Non-Consecutive Training

Need to work around staffing or shift patterns?
Where appropriate, we may also be able to deliver the face-to-face course across separate training dates rather than consecutive days.
Speak to us about your requirements and we’ll see what works.

Assessment and Certification

Assessment

Learners are assessed throughout the course using practical assessments and theory assessments.
Requalification training moves at a faster pace than the initial First Aid at Work course, but that doesn’t mean we rush learners through it.
Our trainers provide plenty of opportunities to practise key skills, ask questions and refresh areas that may not have been used since your previous qualification.
Our goal is for learners to leave not only requalified, but confident and competent enough to actually act when something goes wrong.

Certification

Successful learners receive the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF).
This is an Ofqual-regulated qualification and the certificate is valid for three years.
The HSE strongly recommends that workplace first aiders undertake annual refresher training during the three-year certification period to help maintain their skills and keep their knowledge up to date.

Can I still requalify if my First Aid at Work certificate has expired?

Yes, in many cases you can still complete the 2-day requalification course after your certificate has expired. Ideally, you should complete your requalification before expiry. If a considerable amount of time has passed since your certificate expired, the full 3-day First Aid at Work course may be more appropriate. If you’re unsure, contact us and we’ll help you work out the correct route.

Who can attend the First Aid at Work Requalification course?

The course is designed for people who have previously completed a First Aid at Work qualification and now need to renew it. Learners will normally need to provide evidence of their previous qualification and meet the relevant requalification requirements.

What’s the difference between First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work Requalification?

The initial First Aid at Work course takes 3 days and is designed for people completing the qualification for the first time. The First Aid at Work Requalification course takes 2 days and is designed for people who have previously completed FAW and already have the underpinning knowledge and practical skills. Both routes lead to the same level of First Aid at Work qualification.

How long is the First Aid at Work Requalification course?

The standard First Aid at Work Requalification course takes 2 days, with a minimum of 12 hours of training and assessment excluding breaks. Blended learning options may also be available, combining online learning with face-to-face practical training.

Can First Aid at Work Requalification be completed through blended learning?

Yes, blended learning options may be available. This combines online learning with face-to-face practical training and assessment. The online element must be completed before attending the practical session. If blended learning would work better for your organisation, let us know when requesting a quote.

How long does the new First Aid at Work certificate last?

Once successfully requalified, your new First Aid at Work qualification is valid for three years. Annual refresher training is strongly recommended during this period to help first aiders maintain their practical skills and confidence.

Thoroughly enjoyed the 3-day First Aid at Work.”

Writing this as an experienced long-term first-aider, who has completed many first aid training courses, I found the training with Frontline Training to be an excellent training provider. Niall who took our course, was very confident, experienced, and extremely knowledgeable. I have attended many courses and the has to be the best I’ve been on. Niall provided a friendly atmosphere whilst working to ensure the group remained focused and left understanding of the role of the first aider. Thanks again Niall and I look forward to attending the refreshers! Graham
