Course Description
The Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed for people who may be required to provide immediate first aid in the workplace.The Combined First Aid at Work & Paediatric First Aid course brings together the full content of:
- Level 3 First Aid at Work (RQF)
- Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
into one streamlined programme.
Taken separately, these courses would normally require five training days in total. By removing duplicated content and combining shared learning outcomes, learners can complete both qualifications over 3 extended classroom days.
The course covers first aid for adults, children and infants and includes extensive practical training in CPR, AED use, choking, casualty assessment, bleeding, medical emergencies and common injuries.
It is particularly useful for organisations such as schools and childcare settings where staff may need to provide first aid to both employees and children.
The Paediatric First Aid element is the full qualification, making this course suitable where full EYFS paediatric first aid cover is required.The First Aid at Work element provides comprehensive workplace first aid training where this level of provision has been identified through the organisation’s first aid needs assessment.

The Combined First Aid at Work & Paediatric First Aid course is delivered over 3 extended face-to-face training days.
Because learners are completing two full qualifications within one streamlined programme, the days are longer than a standard training day.
The course is highly practical and includes extensive hands-on training with adult, child and infant CPR manikins, AED training devices and realistic scenarios.
Learners practise skills for dealing with both workplace emergencies and paediatric incidents, helping them build confidence across a much wider range of situations.
Non-Consecutive Training
Where appropriate, the 3 training days may be delivered across separate dates rather than consecutively.
This can help organisations manage staffing and operational requirements while still completing the required training programme.

Assessment and Certification
Assessment
Learners are assessed throughout the course using practical assessments and theory assessments.
Assessment covers both the First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid elements of the programme.
Our trainers provide plenty of opportunities to practise before assessment, with coaching, demonstrations and realistic scenarios throughout the course.
The aim is not simply to achieve two certificates — we want learners to leave genuinely confident dealing with emergencies involving adults, children and infants.
Certification
Successful learners receive two nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated Level 3 qualifications:
Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
Both qualifications are valid for three years.
The First Aid at Work qualification will need to be renewed through the appropriate FAW requalification route, while the Paediatric First Aid qualification must also be renewed before expiry where ongoing paediatric certification is required.
