This regulated Level 3 top-up qualification develops practical skills for life-threatening bleeding, tourniquet use and environment-specific emergencies.
Course Description
The Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid +F (RQF) is designed for people working in forestry, agriculture, arboriculture and other remote or outdoor environments.
It provides additional knowledge and practical skills for injuries and illnesses associated with these settings, including life-threatening bleeding, crush injury, temperature-related illness, Lyme disease and adder bites.
The qualification is designed to accompany a regulated Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work qualification rather than replace it.
Candidates need a suitable level of English to understand the course content and take part in the activities and assessments. We can often provide additional support where English is not a learner’s first language, and reasonable adjustments may be available where appropriate. Face-to-face Learning — Our Fave!
The standalone Forestry First Aid +F course is delivered face-to-face over approximately 2 hours.
It can also be added to an Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work course. Where it is delivered as a bolt-on, the additional training time may be reduced because relevant underpinning content has already been covered.
Learners practise the use of tourniquets, haemostatic dressings and other actions relevant to serious injuries in remote working environments.
Scenarios focus on priorities when access, terrain, weather, communications and delayed emergency-service response may affect casualty care.
Standalone or Added to FAW/EFAW
This is a specialist top-up qualification and must be held alongside an appropriate regulated workplace first aid qualification.
Your first aid needs assessment should consider work activities, equipment, remoteness, access for emergency services and any additional first aid equipment or training required.

Assessment and Certification
Assessment
Learners complete practical assessment activities, including management of a forestry first aid scenario, together with the required theory assessment. Each mandatory assessment component must be passed.
Certification
Successful learners receive the Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid +F (RQF), an Ofqual-regulated qualification valid for three years. It is designed to accompany a current FAW or EFAW qualification.
